A review and impressions of the day
In keeping with tradition, the Steinbeis network met up once again on September 29, 2023 for a Steinbeis networking event. Going by the name Network. Event. Campus., the meet-up was an opportunity for Steinbeis Entrepreneurs to get to know others and forge new contacts.
Even before the official program got underway, there was a warm-up session offering plenty of variety in the form of pitches. Nine Steinbeis Enterprises were each given just eight minutes to showcase collaboration and participation ideas by describing projects for which they are still seeking partners from the Steinbeis network.
After a brief welcome from Steinbeis board members Professor Dr. Michael Auer and Manfred Mattulat, guests were allowed to dive right into the event themselves by taking part in a NetworkDialog session (NetLog for short). Following the successful launch of this interactive format last year, the concept was kept going this year by focusing on networks that create value and the benefits they bring to Steinbeisers. Four keynote speakers presented vivid examples of the immense power of networking and collaboration, also describing how allowing technological expertise to interplay with management consulting offers an opportunity to create genuine value-added. Dr. Markus Urner (Managing Director of IWT Wirtschaft und Technik GmbH) highlighted the growing concerns many companies harbor regarding academic skill shortages, also outlining the challenges facing firms – particularly SMEs – in the engineering and IT sectors. He immediately offered an interesting solution to this problem: the Bodensee Institut für Technologie (BIT) [Lake Constance Institute of Technology]. Spearheaded by Steinbeis, the BIT aims to close the training and staff education gap, and at the same time serve as a hub of research, innovation, and knowledge-sharing in the field of digital transformation. Steffen Lübbecke (Managing Director of Steinbeis Qualitätssicherung und Bildverarbeitung GmbH) and Paul-Gerald Dittrich (Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF)) presented the RUBIN-AMI alliance, which with its 12 partners covers the entire innovation chain of multimodal imaging by linking technologies from different spectral areas.
The final keynote speaker, Steinbeis Entrepreneur Dr. Bertram Lohmüller (Steinbeis Transfer Institute Steinbeis Global Institute Tübingen), demonstrated the potential offered by the continent of Africa as a partner to the Steinbeis network.
Later, the Steinbeis Campus Evening kicked off with a networking session around cocktail tables – a useful vehicle for members of the Steinbeis network to exchange ideas in a relaxing atmosphere while enjoying some delicious finger food. We all look forward to next year!
The next Steinbeis Campus Event will take place on September 27, 2024 on the Steinbeis Campus in Hohenheim, Stuttgart.
