A Sustainable, Future-Centric Approach to Starting Again – Support Program Gets Off to a Successful Start

Steinbeis consultants provide support to people interested in setting up a business

A funding initiative called Starting Again – Sustainable and Future-Centric (Neustart nachhaltig und zukunftsorientiert) offers people interested in founding a company an opportunity to start afresh in their careers. Business Start-up, the Steinbeis Consulting Center, came on board in July as a partner to the project, which spans several modules. To kick off their involvement, the Steinbeis consultants organized an event for the primary target group of the program. They are delighted with how well the kick-off event went and point to a number of factors that made their concept a success.

The kick-off workshop for the Starting Again – Sustainable and Future-Centric program took place on August 16, this time aimed at people receiving unemployment benefit ALG II. The idea of the event was to offer an opportunity to find out more about the funding project, which is supported by both the Baden-Wuerttemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs and the EU, and is being implemented by the Business Start-Up Steinbeis Consulting Center. Despite having to run the workshop as a virtual event, there was plenty of lively exchange between the participants and the Steinbeis experts.

The next step will be to organize a second module to allow the participants to pull together their own individual training program based on eight key topics. “All of the participants at the opening event have already signed up, which for us shows that the topics went down well and the participants have been well prepared to move on to the next module,” beams Ralf Lauterwasser from Business Start-up. In the third phase, an intensive round of consulting begins, during which each individual business concept undergoes further development.

Following the successful launch of the support program, the experts at the Steinbeis Consulting Center for Business Start-ups have identified a number of factors that fueled success: There is a low entry point for registration (to encourage more people to take part), the method of embarking on the process (by completing a resource check) worked well when it came to preparing for the opening event and matching the topics to the participants, and the modular approach helped reduce complexity (by showing how different issues can be solved step by step). The fact that the program went down well was also reflected in the number of registrations for upcoming kick-off events targeted at ALG-I claimants and “restarters.”

The Starting Again – Sustainable and Future-Centric initiative, for which the Steinbeis Consulting Center Business Start-up is acting as a project partner, is being funded through the REACT-EU program. The initiative is aimed at people from Baden-Wuerttemberg with an interest in setting up in business and using self-employment to start afresh. Participants in the program are supported by experienced consultants with previous involvement in a variety of successful startup projects.
